How to use Tableau export (TPS)

  1. Open the Generator or From Image page and prepare your palette.
  2. Click the Export Tableau TPS button.
  3. The palette.tps file will download.
  4. Open your Tableau folder: Documents/My Tableau Repository/Preferences/.
  5. Insert or merge the file contents into your existing Preferences.tps (or create a new file if none exists).
  6. Restart Tableau, then select the palette in your workbook or chart colors.

Tip: save a TPS file version per project so you can easily roll back colors.

How to use Power BI export (JSON Theme)

  1. Open the Generator or From Image page and prepare your palette.
  2. Click the Export Power BI JSON button.
  3. The theme.json file will download.
  4. In Power BI Desktop: go to View → Themes → Browse for themes.
  5. Select the downloaded theme.json file.
  6. Visual colors will follow the dataColors from that palette.

Tip: if visual colors don't update, reset any manual custom colors on existing visuals.

Other available export formats

  • Copy CSS Variables for quick implementation in web apps.
  • Export PNG/JPG for use in PowerPoint, Docs, or other tools via color picker.
